Professional Organizer

Hello, I’m Alice!

Welcome to Organize With Alice!

Thank you so much for stopping by to view my page.

Let me tell you about myself and my journey to become a Professional Organizer…

I live in Long Beach, New York. I enjoy bike riding, spending time with my family and friends, and of course, helping others get organized. And oh yes, my favorite color is purple.

Unlike many others in my field, however, I was not born with an organizational propensity and did not see this as my calling. I earned my undergraduate degree in Marketing from New York University, and my graduate degree in Education from Hofstra University. I spent many years in the education and management fields, raised four children, and lived in a big house in the suburbs on Long Island.

One by one, my children went off to college and then moved out to begin their own lives. During this time, I found myself going through a divorce after a long-term marriage. This sparked the beginning of a journey of transitioning my life, which involved many major changes, including downsizing from a house I had lived in for decades to an apartment.

Downsizing so dramatically meant that I had to hit the reset button and sort through decades of belongings, clothing, housewares, furnishings, a myriad of possessions, and years and years of memories. A lot of ‘stuff.’ It was anything but easy, and at first felt incredibly daunting. I was completely overwhelmed by where to even start, and what seemed like endless decisions that needed to be made. What to do with all the ‘stuff’? What to keep/toss/donate? Would my children and family members want any keepsakes? How would it all get packed and moved?

A few well-intentioned friends and family members offered to help, but I soon realized I needed to roll up my sleeves and get the job done—figure out a plan and see the task through. I drew on the wisdom I had developed over decades of managing and decision-making in my career and personal life, and little by little, I figured it out.

That year was about making a major life change and landing in a better place. The experience taught me invaluable lessons and helped me move on to the next chapter in my life. I learned how to scale down, switch gears, and simplify my life. I can say with absolute certainty that is has been so worth it.

Simplifying my life and getting rid of so much ‘stuff’ — both emotional and physical — has made me feel so much better, happier, and lighter. Living with less and maintaining order is so liberating. I have gained a sense of clarity that I love sharing with others. My own journey, combined with years of varied work experience, was the catalyst for opening my business, Organize With Alice. Since that time, I’ve been using the skills and strategies I learned to help others begin and travel through their own journeys.

When I decided to become a Professional Organizer and start my own business, I joined NAPO, the National Association for Productivity and Organizing Professionals. I am also a member of POLI, Professional Organizers of Long Island. I attend regular meetings and workshops, and network with other professionals to keep abreast of current trends in the field.

As the founder of Organize With Alice, I am ready and excited to help you turn your home or business into a place that brings you peace of mind; a place you want to be. I am passionate about the work that I do and I look forward to joining you on your journey towards organization. There’s never been a better time to get organized!
